Kat’s World 3

I’m a Mommy!

September 13, 2008 · 10 Comments

Well, kinda.

(So to MY mommy, if you’re reading this, you can relax! I’m not pregnant, okay?)

I went home last Friday night and found a very wet envelope waiting for me. It was from World Vision:

Yay! Finally! My baby….

Yay! Finally! My baby....

As I’ve said in this post, I sponsored a child through World Vision. All it takes is a 450-peso pledge every month to help send a child to school, and improve the community he lives in. My donation, combined with the other sponsors’ will provide clean drinking water, health services, and livelihood programs in the poverty stricken areas World Vision works with.

I got a folder with information about my sponsored child. His name is Romnick, 10 years old, from Palawan. He’s in second grade right now, and his favorite subject is English (Oh, we’re so meant to be!) The fun part of being a sponsor is that we can write letters to each other, and I’ll get a regular report on his health, his family, and his grades in school. The family, through World Vision, will also send me pictures every year so I can see how he grows.

Changing Lives Forever

Changing Lives Forever

It’s like I really got my self a sort-of-son. I have made a lifelong commitment to Romnick and his family and I hope God helps me to carry out this responsibility. I’ve read many stories of World Vision sponsored children who ended up successful in life, and became child sponsors themselves. I am so excited for Romnick.

In the sponsor’s manual I got, along with Romnick’s profile, a letter from WV says “Thank you for caring, and caring enough.”

Do you care enough? Sponsor a child today:www.worldvision.org.ph

this is nice! people should do this all the time. it’s not going to make a dent to your pocket and it helps a lot to those kids who are in need. congratulation for being an instant mom to a 10 year old! hehe!

wow! if i don’t have two kiddos right now, this is such a good project. can you imagine spending only that much and you’re helping a child hope for a better future. i also have a friend who is currently sponsoring a little girl. they also write to each other. i hope one day soon, if maluwag na, we can also do this. kudos kat! :)

kaith—i also had to put off sponsoring for about a year because of money issues, but now the forces above made it possible for me to di it. am sure all will go well with you.
