Sure, this video will show the world how terribly crooked my teeth are, and just how tiny my voice is, how incredibly cluttered my cubicle is, and how I sing nursery rhymes to my little kid students, but I think I don’t mind. Besides, I can’t write much, I’m reading Twilight—yay!
This is how my job works—eight hours of sitting down and talking, but I love it so much.
As a bonus, I even get these:

I’ve enjoyed it, Kat.
That’s TOUGH! I cannot even talk that way to my colleagues who doesn’t even want to listen and learn how to speak/talk english.
Hahaha.
sobrang PATIENCE ang number one requirement dito. Ang pinakabata ko ngang student eh 4 years old. Maraming nagsisimula sakin na zero english talaga sila, as in alphabet kami nagsstart. Sabi nga, “A good teacher is someone who can understand those who are not good in explaining, and explain to those who are not good in understanding.” I’m sure you excel din in whatever it is that you do, pero tama ka, mahirap makipag-usap sa mga ayaw makinig tsaka mahirap umintindi.

I’m study in USA right now and is it possible to interview through email? Thank you very much!
Thank you for your interest, but I’m not exactly looking for an extra job right now and I don’t have the resources to carry out online classes on my own.

gosh i wish i have ur patience kat..my consolation would probably be those messages they send me if i have a job like yours, kkatuwa basahin..
minsan talaga ang hirap…..pero yung mga email nila ang nakakatuwa. minsan din they sing for you, or tell really, really funny stories, or minsan sabi ko sa 10-year-old student ko, “Use BEST in a sentence,” at ang sagot ba naman “You are the BEST teacher in the world.” AWWWWWWWW talaga….

katuwa naman yang work mo..
But its good to know that you enjoy your work.. Specially when receiving those kind of messages from your students…

nga pala, did you do anything para yung name mo pag nagcomment may link na lumabas? dati wala eh nagyon meron na.
When I comment sa mga wordpress blogs, I log out. Tapos pag magcocomment ako ittype ko dapat yung email addie ko and my URL, kaya nagkaroon na ng link. I made a gravatar (globally recognized avatar sa gravatar.com) so that whenever I type in my email addie to any gravatar enabled site lalabas pa rin ang mukha ko.

I take my hat off to you. Your job requires a lot of patience and hard work. Plus the video shows how you maintain your professionalism given a tough situation. I wonder if people realize how tough it is to reach someone you can’t see.
Best of luck. Take care.
Thank you! It does require a great deal of patience, but it definitely pays off. My job makes me laugh every single day!

Ahmmm… wala lang .. I saw the video, that was cool.. I was wondering … ano ba ibig sabihin ng online teacher?? I mean.. how do u do it? I just heard of it.. well.. as i was browsing in your page
I first heard about it around 2006 when I was working in a call center tapos may isang account kung saan mga online teachers and meron, at hindi agents. Na-curious ako, and it turns out na nagtuturo ang mga online teachers ng mga mahihirap ng subject (math, bio, physics) sa mga estudyanteng nasa ibang bansa by webcam, and cool diba? Then napadpad ako dito sa job ko. Ang pag-aaral ng english over the telephone (or what they call telephone english in korea) has been going on for decades na sa Korea. A teacher calls the student on the phone at a specific time tapos yun, magkklase kayo. Meron na ring nag-aaral ng nakawebcam dahil alam mo na, modern technology, pero mas marami pa rin ang over the phone. Recently lang yata nagbranch out ang mga Korean businessmen at naghire ng Pinoy teachers at nagtayo ng mga “call centers” sa Pinas for maybe the same reason as the Americans had (lower labor costs, cheaper upkeep.) Pero it’s a pretty cool job na may future, this industry is not gonna go away but is only going to boom in the coming years, lalo na’t the need to learn English is becoming more vital.

Kailangan ba… kumuha ka ng educ units to be able to apply for that ??
Okay lang na hindi educ grad o walang educ units. meron nga dito samin mga nursing grads. meron din mga educ grads ilan ding mga masscom people (like me.)
